2021.10.20 17:32 Thezeke64 Alright guys I need help here.

When I bought this game I was able to run it. But today I tried to start it and the game crashes before it hits the main menu. It shows the logos and then crashes with a "fatal error"
I've tried reinstalling the game, restarting my pc, and verifying the files. I never changed anything with the game or my computer other than recently getting a new monitor. wtf?

2021.10.20 17:32 HP_Wuvcwaft Samsung "Sleeping Apps" app for any phone?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for help finding some kind of app that will help me put Android apps to sleep, or at least take larger control of Android's application power management. On Samsung phones, I have always turned off, "Put Unused Apps To Sleep" but then added apps to the Sleeping, Deep Sleeping, and Never Sleeping app lists. This has helped me ensure that apps like social media and less scrupulous apps don't drian my battery in the background, but let's me ensure that VoIP, messaging, video, audio, and remote gaming apps don't terminate their processes on me in the background. Normally, I start by deciding if an app needs to have battery optimization turned off (for example, I disable battery optimization on Fitbit, Google Messages, and Google Maps) and then I arrange apps in Samsung's Sleeping Apps system according to my personal priorities. I find that the difference between Samsung "Never Sleeping Apps" and Google "Battery Unoptimized" apps is that unoptimized apps can basically run in the background whenever they want, no holds barred, balls to the wall. But Never Sleeping apps can only run in the background without any interference so long as I don't open my multitasking drawer and swipe up on them. I'm looking to achieve this same sort of situation with the Pixel 6 Pro that I've pre ordered. I've heard thatapps like battery guru have an adb permission I can grant myself to take more control over doze mode and stuff, but is that the same as the app sleeping system I have in One UI? If not, are there any apps that replicate the Samsung App Sleep system?

2021.10.20 17:32 psonthalia Apparel for bad weather

Hello,
My friends and I are participating in Ironman California this Sunday and the weather is looking pretty terrible. Here's the forecast: https://darksky.net/details/38.5816,-121.4937/2021-10-24/us12/en
For anyone who's rode/ran in this weather can anyone recommend what apparel to wear for the ride/run. I don't think there's much to do for the water since we'll just have our wetsuits.
Thank you!

2021.10.20 17:32 Olivebranch99 Theory: Is the love triangle in IT inspired by Cyrano de Bergerac?

Not an in Canon theory, but a reality theory. Btw, I'm referring to the play, not the person.
Now I'm not going to pretend like these are the only stories to have this or that it's that a unique idea, but I can't help but think about the similarities.
For those of you who have never read Cyrano de Bergerac (you uncultured swines), it's basically about Cyrano (a real figure) who considers himself unattractive and isn't brave enough to tell the woman he loves how he feels. So he writes love letters and poems to her but she mistakes them to be from another man has a crush on, Christian. Christian takes this secret to the grave and Cyrano finally admits upon his own death that he was the true author.
Pretty similar right? Yeah none of them die and Beverly grew up to marry someone else entirely, but I can't help but wonder if King may have had this play in mind when writing these characters.

2021.10.20 17:32 BiscuitBender Poop samples for vet visits

Hi everyone!
We have a vet visit coming up for our two dogs. (3&1/2 years old and 2 years old - spayed females).
Our vet mentioned they do an optional stool sample check that they recommend- but it does cost extra
Neither of them have any health issues, they are just going in for their vaccinations.
Just curious if this is common practice? Money is tight and if its not a big necessity we will probably hold off.

2021.10.20 17:32 Patterson9191717 Support Councilmember Sawant’s Legislation to Require All Contractors to Fully Pay Parking for All Construction Workers!

Recently, over 2,000 rank-and-file union carpenters in the Pacific Northwest went on a courageous strike action, demanding that the wealthy contractor bosses pay them family-supporting wages and fully-funded benefits. Another crucial issue raised by the carpenter rank and file was how construction workers often have to pay up to even $200 per week just to park their vehicles - carrying heavy tools and other equipment - at the job site. Refusing to accept this pay-to-work exploitation, the striking carpenters also demanded fully-paid parking from the bosses. Shamefully, construction industry contractors, who have made billions in profits off the backs of workers, have refused to cover the cost of parking for carpenters and many other construction workers. In solidarity with the carpenters and other construction workers, my office has presented legislation requiring contractor bosses to pay for the cost of parking for all construction workers on Seattle job sites.
Join the 1,000+ working people, including nearly 350 construction workers who have signed our petition to tell the City Council to support my office’s legislation to make contractor bosses pay for parking for construction workers! https://forms.gle/afYYaWczfMPtFgcZ7
Now, some have asked whether this bill is bad for the climate.
Anyone with this question should speak to a construction worker. Joey Hann, a member of IBEW 46 who lives in Tacoma, recently said, “As an apprentice, I am sent to jobs without any input on what job or what start time. This often means being sent to somewhere in Seattle with a 6 or 6:30 am start time. Even when I want to take transit I often can’t, given the early starting time. This means the only option is to drive.”
What's bad for the climate is construction bosses not offering commuting options that would reduce single-occupancy vehicles in the city. Many other large employers in Seattle already provide vans and busses for their workers. But construction bosses do not. Construction bosses instead make workers drive in at times that don't allow for transit use, and then make the workers pay for parking. This bill simply says that as long as the construction bosses force people to drive their personal vehicles to job sites, the bosses should pay the cost, not the workers.
For those who argue that we need dramatic shifts towards public transit use and reduction of single-occupancy commuting, as socialists we agree 100 percent. Socialist Alternative and my office have had an unwavering record of fighting for expanded transit and free transit for all. Those concerned about the climate should join with us in calling on the construction bosses to make climate-friendly options available to their workers. Fighting to make the bosses pay for workers' parking is part of the struggle to force bosses to concede on our Green New Deal related demands.
Not supporting this legislation does not help the climate movement — but it will ensure that hardworking people have to continue to pay thousands of dollars a year to park at their own jobs while billionaires pocket the profit. There is no averting climate catastrophe without building a historic fightback against the multimillionaire and billionaire fossil fuel bosses, Wall Street speculators, and big banks. And that will not happen unless we unite millions of workers from every sector of industry into the fight, and to do that, we have to understand the problems they face.
The fact is that if construction bosses didn’t steal thousands of dollars from workers’ pay every year, more workers could afford to live closer to Seattle and have shorter commutes. We also urgently need to win a strong rent control policy to bring the out-of-control rent increases into check.
And the fact is that if we build further movements like our successful Tax Amazon movement last year, we can win public funds at the scale needed to build an unprecedented network and frequency of public transit routes with 24-hour service. Climate advocates should join our People's Budget 2021 campaign, which is fighting for an increase in the Amazon Tax to fund union-built, publicly-controlled, affordable housing for working people. We’re fighting to expand the Amazon Tax by $120 million to fund affordable housing and a Green New Deal in this year’s People’s Budget campaign.
Join the 1,000+ working people and construction workers who have signed our petition to tell the City Council to support my office’s legislation to make contractor bosses pay for parking for construction workers! https://forms.gle/afYYaWczfMPtFgcZ7
It’s not just construction workers — this issue reflects that of so many other workers. Healthcare workers in Seattle, for example, face the constant struggle of being forced to park half a mile away from downtown hospitals just to avoid parking tickets or having to pay for parking. In the middle of the COVID crisis, these healthcare workers are being forced to walk for 20 minutes or more to get to a job where they must stand on their feet for 10 or 12-hour shifts. Many healthcare workers working late into the night also can’t take public transit, and are also underpaid to the point where they increasingly cannot afford to live in Seattle or anywhere near their jobs.
Ultimately, to avert climate catastrophe, we will need working people to fight to take the fossil fuel and financial industries into democratic public ownership, and retool machinery to stop fossil fuel extraction and shift all industry to clean, renewable energy. Because you simply cannot control what you don’t own.
